Why Did I Receive a Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge Toll by Plate Notice?

You traveled through a Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge toll zone without the system recognizing a valid transponder (E-ZPass). If you receive a Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge Toll by Plate notice and have an E-ZPass account, it may mean your license plate is not on your account or the license plate information on the account is inaccurate or there may be something wrong with your account (such as, no funds on the account or an expired credit card). Although Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge accepts E-ZPass, Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge is a separate entity from E-ZPass, and Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge will make an attempt to obtain payment from E-ZPass using the photographic image of the vehicle's license plate prior to sending a Toll by Plate notice.

What is a Toll by Plate Account?

When a motor vehicle passes through a Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge toll zone and the toll payment is not made by an electronic transponder (E-ZPass), a photographic image of the vehicle's license plate will be captured at the toll lane. The license plate data is used to obtain the registered owner's name and address from the Department of Motor Vehicles so a Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge Toll by Plate account can be created and a notice generated.

What Happens If I Don't Pay?

Failure to pay tolls within the designated time frame is considered a Toll Violation in accordance with, VA Code 46.2-819 and 46.2-819.3:1, and results in assessment of additional fees and enforcement actions; including but limited to: potential referral to a third-party collection firm, as well as a vehicle registration renewal hold.
